Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions about our quartz countertops here.

Quartz countertops are an engineered stone product made primarily from crushed natural quartz crystals, one of the hardest minerals on Earth. These crystals are mixed with a small amount of resins, polymers, and pigments, and then pressed into slabs. This manufacturing process creates a non-porous, highly durable, and beautiful surface that is more consistent and stain-resistant than natural stone.

Quartz is extremely durable and resistant to scratches, thanks to the hardness of the natural quartz it contains. However, it is not impervious to damage. While it can handle everyday heat, it’s not as heat-resistant as granite. We recommend always using a trivet or hot pad under hot pans, as extreme heat can scorch the resin in the countertop and cause permanent discoloration.

Maintaining quartz countertops is incredibly easy due to their non-porous nature. For daily cleaning, simply wipe the surface with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Avoid using harsh, abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can dull the finish. Since quartz is non-porous, it never needs to be sealed, making maintenance a breeze.

What our Customers are Saying

"There are a lot of local businesses that do decent contracted kitchen and countertop work. As a consumer in this area, you have a lot of choices. And, while I think doing quality work and offering competitive pricing is very important, I find the true test of a business to be how they navigate a challenge. And this is where K. G. Stevens truly shines. We are so happy with our new kitchen countertops! We worked closely with Janice and Tina, both of whom were exceptional, to help us navigate a tricky situation related to trying to match up an existing piece of countertop- and come up with an alternative that we were fully satisfied with! Know that you will be truly taken care of here, whether you have a cut-and-dry countertop install or a more nuanced situation like ours. We will continue to refer this business to everyone we know and will definitely use them again!"

"I wish I could give them 10 stars...EVERYONE we worked with from the initial consult with Charlie, to the final plumbing done by Dave, everyone was amazing. We were able to choose a countertop product that will serve our needs for many years and has improved the appearance of our kitchen. The tear out crew were as neat and quick as possible, no damage to the existing walls or cabinets. The installation crew: Luis, Jaceri and Rodrigo were very well organized and all the tops fit like a glove. The final step, connecting the plumbing was done by Dave and he did an excellent job as well. We're very happy with our "new" kitchen. Don't hesitate to call on KG Stevens."
